Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum ask the body to adapt again and again. My approach to perinatal bodywork follows those changes rather than treating pregnancy massage as simply a modified version of a regular massage.

At Willow & Nest, care evolves throughout pregnancy, becomes increasingly intentional as birth approaches, and continues into postpartum recovery with
an understanding of what the body has just moved through. My approach is shaped by my work as both a licensed massage therapist and certified doula, as well as my own four pregnancy journeys through motherhood and surrogacy.

Pregnancy massage is available during all trimesters*, and postpartum care can begin whenever you and your healthcare provider feel your body is ready, sometimes as early as once vital signs stabilized following delivery.
* Pregnancies deemed high risk must provide a doctor's note for first trimester support

Pregnancy Massage

Available in New Hope & Newtown

First Trimester

Bodywork during the first trimester prioritizes rest, nervous system regulation, and comfort while accounting for fatigue, nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, and the hormonal changes already underway. Sessions are generally gentle and responsive, with positions and techniques adjusted as needed.
*Pregnancies deemed high risk must provide doctor's note for first trimester support

Second Trimester

Changes in posture, gait, pelvic positioning, breast and abdominal weight, and growing demand through the hips and back can create new patterns of tension. Bodywork may become more targeted during this stage, using myofascial techniques to create space and support more comfortable movement as your body continues to change.

Third Trimester

Rather than attempting to "correct" a pregnant body doing exactly what it needs to do, I work with patterns it has developed. Particular attention may be given to the hips, pelvis, low back, ribs, and other areas carrying increased demand.

As birth approaches, our work can also become an opportunity to practice supported positioning, deepen body awareness, and become more familiar with the kinds of touch, pressure, movement, and grounding that may feel supportive during labor.

The intention isn't to promise an easier birth, rather to help you arrive there feeling more connected to your body and better supported through the transition, with postpartum recovery already in mind.

Postpartum Massage

Your body is recovering from pregnancy and birth while simultaneously adapting to feeding, carrying, interrupted sleep, new movement patterns, hormonal shifts, the responsibility of caring for another person, and even grief.

In our spaces, postpartum sessions are restorative, but they can also be deeply therapeutic. We meet you wherever you are in your healing process. Depending on your needs, our work incorporates a blend of techniques to support swelling, tension, postural changes, cesarean or vaginal birth recovery, and reconnection with a body that can feel impossibly different from the one you knew before.

There is no expectation to return to anything, anyone, or any shape or state. We work with the body you are in, every time you arrive.

NEW HOPE  |  Baby is Welcome

You are always welcome to come alone. You're also welcome to bring your baby.

For postpartum sessions at our New Hope studio, a bassinet can be added to your appointment for babies up to 6 months old. It stays in the treatment room with us, allowing your baby to remain close while you receive care.

Sessions with your baby are intentionally flexible. Feeding, soothing, holding, or taking a break is part of caring for a newly postpartum family, not an interruption to it. Additional time is added to your booking to hold the space and ensure your desired service time.

NEWTOWN  |  A Quiet Session for You

Postpartum bodywork is also available at our Newtown location inside The Wellnest Bucks County. Following your session here, you'll enjoy a complimentary electrolyte water to support your wellness beyond the treatment room. You're invited to enjoy the tranquility of the space and shop for crystals, jewelry, or other goodies. This space offers a quieter opportunity to enjoy true you-time.

Neighboring services require consistently low volume levels, so Newtown postpartum appointments are reserved for clients attending independently. If having your baby nearby makes receiving care more accessible, please select New Hope when booking your session.

In-Home Postpartum Bodywork

For established pregnancy clients, care can follow you home.

In-home postpartum bodywork is currently available exclusively to clients who received pregnancy care with me on at least 2 occasions before birth. By this point, rapport has been established, I am familiar with your relevant medical history and pregnancy, and we have an existing foundation of trust before entering the more intimate environment of your home during the postpartum season.

Home visits can include bodywork for the postpartum client as well as massage for members of their immediate family or support system, including craniosacral for infants. This can be especially helpful during the early weeks when enjoying the blissful bubble of postpartum life.

Availability for home visits is limited and arranged directly.

More Ways to Support your Session

Pregnancy and postpartum sessions generally have access to the same collection of supportive modalities and comfort options available throughout Willow & Nest, when appropriate for your stage of care.

Some tools you'll see in-studio are modified or avoided during pregnancy, while others can be incorporated based on your needs, comfort, and preferences. You never need to decide what you need before arriving. I'll offer what may support our work as well as why and what that tool aims to achieve. You're always welcome to request something you love or decline anything offered.
